we have a dinner reservation for California Grill at 7:45 Pm. Is that too early to watch the fireworks? Also, do we need to have park reservation to dine at California Grill?

Hi there, Joy - welcome to planDisney!

I'm so glad you stopped by with a question for our team of panelists. We love to help Guests just like you plan your very own, very magical, Walt Disney World Resort vacations!

I'm so happy to hEAR that you were able to get a dinner reservation for California Grill! Perched high atop Disney's Contemporary Resort, this restaurant's views of Magic Kingdom Park are unrivaled, and the food and service are absolutely spectacular. Currently, they have a pixie dusted celebration menu with current and past favorites for the Walt Disney World Resort's 50th Anniversary!

Based on my experiences, 7:45 p.m. is a GREAT time to be seated on an evening when Disney Enchantment is scheduled around or after 9 p.m.! Keep in mind that these nighttime spectaculars do sometimes start at different times, and aren't available every night. That being said, most of my meals at California Grill have been around two hours long, so you're in good shape!

While it is certainly fun to have a fireworks break during dinner, you would still have access to the outdoor observation deck to experience Disney Enchantment, even if you're all done with your dining experience. Simply show your dining receipt to a Cast Member at the host stand on the 2nd floor and they will let you back up!

I hope this information is helpful as you continue planning. Please let me know if any additional questions pop up!
