Dinner @ Kona Cafe at 5pm in October. We will be driving to MK that morning and then taking the monorail to to get to dinner and back again. Am I cutting it too close? MK closes at 6pm. Will the monorail still be going or will we get stranded at the Poly?

Hello Amy! You've planned a great Disney day! I like that you've created a plan that allows you to enjoy the area around Magic Kingdom Park! There is some important information that you should know as you plan your October visit.

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort recently announced an exciting refurbishment project for the Great Ceremonial House! However, this project will result in the temporary suspension of Monorail service to that resort beginning in early October. As an alternative transportation route, I recommend you board a Disney Transportation bus at Magic Kingdom Park and ride it to the Kona Cafe. Following your dinner, you can take a bus back to Magic Kingdom Park. Buses should still be running as there are some Disney Dining locations within the park that will remain open even though the park has closed.

Amy, if your group was looking forward to riding the Monorail, you might consider riding the Monorail from Magic Kingdom Park to the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and then making the walk to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort for your dinner reservation. It's a really nice walk along the Seven Seas Lagoon. It will take you about 10 -15 minutes to make this scenic walk!
