Dining reservations. My Mom and I (both adults) will be at Disney World Dec 1 -5. For our first day and there doesn't seem to be much availablein MK. Can you go the day of and request seating or must you have made a reservation in advance?

    Hi Donna:

Disney World dining is such a wonderful experience that it's little surprise so much is booked up in advance, especially since advance dining reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance.  I would keep trying during November to secure a reservation where you want to eat in December.  However, the good news is that you do not absolutely need a reservation to dine at a Disney World restaurant.  You can always try your luck at a walk up reservation.  In some instances, a restaurant may tell you that they absolutely have nothing available for you that day, but in many instances, a restaurant may tell you that they can fit you in at some point.  Your best bet is to be flexible with your dining times.  There is usually more availability during non-peak dining hours.  I can't guarantee anything, but I'm thinking you should have some luck with your dining as the week you will be traveling to Walt Disney World should not have such heavy crowds as schools are generally in session and many families are not yet on vacation.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation.
