Hello! We have dining reservations in early March at California Grill at 8:30 pm, which I believe is 15 minutes after the fireworks. Are we able to come early to view them? Thank you!

    Hi Robyn,

Welcome back to planDisney and thank you for asking us another great dining question, my fellow Canadian!

California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is probably my favourite Disney dining location. I love the food, the amazing wine list, the amazing service… and that fabulous view! In some ways, I almost prefer watching Magic Kingdom Park’s nightly fireworks spectacular from the California Grill’s observation decks; I find that the fireworks are even bigger and more brilliant from that perspective.

I’m happy to say that, even though your dining reservation is after the fireworks, you should be able to see the show from the California Grill’s observation deck that night. Simply check in on the second floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort (right beside the escalators) about 45 minutes before the show and you’ll be told whether there will be space to accommodate you and your party. Once the show is over, you’ll likely be invited to take a seat in the lounge to wait for your table to be ready.

I don’t know whether you’ve had the chance to look at the California Grill’s menu, but I highly recommend the Braised Beef Short Rib Wontons as an appetizer. They’re really unique and absolutely delicious!

Please don’t hesitate to come back and as us any other questions you may have to help make your vacation planning easier. We’re always here to help!

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
