Hello! I have a dining reservation at California Grill for the 50th Anniversary Dinner, but if we finish our meal before the fireworks showtime, will we still be able to see it from the restaurant, or will we need to leave and find another viewing spot?

Hey there, Tishra! Welcome back to planDisney!

California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort is easily one of my favorite restaurants at the Most Magical Place on Earth. It's the perfect place to celebrate your journey to the East Coast. Let's get right into a game plan for viewing those mesmerizing Disney Enchantment fireworks from the restaurant!

Depending on where your party is seated for dinner and if you've timed your dinner just right, you most definitely can see the fireworks from your table. However, unless you are seated at a table across from the bar at one of the large windows, I highly recommend that you watch the fireworks from one of the outdoor viewing areas on either side of the dining room. The show's soundtrack is piped into the restaurant and outdoor areas, so the experience is just as magical--if not, more magical--than being inside the theme park.

Now, if your dining reservation falls way before or after the nighttime spectacular, you still have options to make the most of this experience. First, if your reservation is much earlier than the fireworks show, definitely explore all of the Resort hotel's fun decor and revel in Disney history before heading back to the restaurant's check-in on the 2nd floor. Show your dinner receipt to the Cast Member at the podium, and you may access the elevator to the restaurant's outdoor viewing areas just in time for the show.

If your reservation is after the show, like my party's initial reservation before modifying it, plan on arriving early. Simply show your reservation to the Cast Member at check-in, and they'll provide you with that same access (minus the table). But, hey, you never know if you'll get a bit of pixie dust and be seated earlier than expected.

AN EXTRA GEM: I'm sure you've already perused the amazing 50th Anniversary Celebration prix fixe menu--I absolutely did before my birthday dinner last month. But when you visit, you'll find something special in your keepsake menu: The dinner items with the little 50th Anniversary icon next to them are inspired by past favorites at the restaurant. But, hands down, our favorite dish is the Cast Iron-Grilled Pork Tenderloin. Yummm!

Tishra, I hope that you have the most magical vacation! Please revisit us here at planDisney if you have any further questions. I'm all ears!

    Magic always,
