Are Dining Plans available if we are staying at a Disney hotel? We will be staying at Disney Springs, the B Resort. I want to know if I can purchase magic bands and every available special experience for a 7-year-old celebrating her birthday

    Hello Lorelei!

Welcome to planDisney! The Walt Disney World Resort is the perfect place to celebrate a birthday! All but one of my family members has celebrated a birthday at Disney, and rest assured we’ll be sure the youngest gets her turn too!

Currently, the Disney Dining Plan is not available. While Disney has assured us that it will be coming back, a release date has not been shared. Please know though, that Guests of Disney Springs Resorts, like the B Resort, would not be eligible to purchase it. Although they are considered a partner hotel, since they are not Disney-owned and operated there are differences, and Guests of partner hotels are not dining plan eligible.

MagicBands are a fun and exciting way to enjoy the theme parks! If you wished to purchase MagicBands, I would purchase them in advance from shopDisney. There are a variety of designs and styles to choose from, and I’m sure your daughter can find one that she loves! You can link your MagicBand to your tickets and use it to enter the theme parks and to access Lightning Lane attractions if you purchase Genie+. Since the B Resort is not Disney-owned, your MagicBands would not open your room door, and could not be used to make room charges. You would also not be eligible for discounted pre-order MagicBands.

Now let’s talk about celebrating! Disney has a wide variety of Enchanting Extras to make your visit special! I would consider a Capture Your Moment PhotoPass session at either Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Get your birthday girl all dolled up to commemorate her special day! Enjoy a buffet of delicious desserts with special fireworks viewing at one of the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties. Or view the nighttime spectacular from the water on a private Specialty Cruise! How about enjoying tasty treats on the water as you take in the show on the Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise? Advance Dining Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance, so perhaps book a special birthday dinner. Stop by the podium to request a special Mickey Celebration Cake to be added to your meal. Cakes are limited and first-come, first-served, so if possible I would stop by earlier in the day to add the request to your reservation. And for the ultimate Disney day, consider a Private VIP Tour! Your Tour Guide will work with you in advance to design your day with all your favorites. You can even park-hop! Get personalized one-on-one attention from your expert Tour Guide, hear history and stories of the theme parks, and experience shorter than typical waits!

If I were going all-out for a celebration, I would do a VIP Tour during the day, followed by a special dinner with a celebration cake, and end the day with a fireworks cruise!

Whatever you decide, I wish your little one the happiest of birthdays and a magical visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
