Can I get the dining plan if I stay on property but buy the tickets somewhere cheaper?

Hiya there, Kristy. Welcome to planDisney!

At this time, to purchase a dining plan, you must book a vacation package to the Walt Disney World Resort, which includes both theme park tickets and a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel room reservation. So, you would not be able to buy the dining plan if you are staying off-property. However, I would highly encourage you to look at the Special Offers, Deals & Discounts page to see if you can find a deal that meets your needs and allows you to buy the dining plan! You'll also want to look into the Value Resort Hotels as they offer that incredible Disney theming at a...well, great value!

Disney's All-Star Sports Resort, Disney's All-Star Music Resort, and Disney's All-Star Movies Resort are Value Resort Hotels with some over-the-top theming and more budget-friendly prices that you may want to look into. And while they are some of the cheapest options, they still include some great benefits that you won't get if you stay at a non-Disney hotel. Currently, they include the ability to access Early Theme Park Entry, which allows you to enter any of the theme parks 30 minutes before everyone else. And let me tell you, while that doesn't sound like a whole lot of time, it is when it comes to getting a head start in riding some of those headliner attractions! You'll also get the ability to book Individual Lightning Lanes (sold separately) at 7 a.m. instead of waiting until the park at which those rides are located to open.

Now, I quickly mentioned the Special Offers, Deals & Discount page before, but I don't want to you gloss over that comment. There are usually some great offers on this page and if your vacation dates line up with them, you can get some amazing savings. In fact, there's one that you'd need to act really quickly on to take advantage of, but it's a pretty wonderful deal that just might suit your needs. If you're a Disney+ subscriber, are traveling during most nights from July 1 to September 30, 2024, and you book at select hotels through February 14, 2024, your trip may qualify for a free dining plan (check the offer page for full details)! Now this deal is almost gone, but there will likely be more great deals offered in the future, so make sure you check them out before counting out a Disney hotel for your next trip!

Kristy, best of luck planning. If you have any other questions, I'm all ears.

    Giving up is for rookies,
