Is the dining plan really worth it? Last time I was at Disney. We did 4 parks 4 days. We ate a late lunch and snacked and had drinks each day.

Hi, Russell!   The base Disney Dining Plan is worth it IF:   you plan to have one table service meal, one quick service meal, and one snack each day of your vacation (credits are based on the number of nights of your stay.)   If you usually skip meals, and do not plan to make Advance Dining Reservations, then the plan probably will not benefit you.

It does take some planning to have the Dining Plan as far as having your dining reservations made.   For example, my last vacation for my family we planned in just a few weeks.   We knew we would not have many ADR's and not a ton of time for dining, so we just paid out of pocket for our meals and that worked out great.    We also have a trip planned for April.  For this upcoming trip, we already have many ADR's made and will have plenty of vacation time, so we plan to do the dining plan for that vacation.   It just really depends on how you plan to have your meals.

So the final answer is . . . if you plan to eat a lot, go for the plan.  If eating is secondary to playing in the parks, skip the dining plan and pay as you go.   Whatever you decide, have fun on your vacation!  (And with or without the dining plan, you MUST get an ice cream cookie sandwich at the Main Street Bakery.  It is worth the calories, yum!)

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
