We are on the dining plan. I have heard contradicting info as to whether you can substitute an appetizer for the dessert at the table service meals. Are substitutions allowed?

Hi Suzanne! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Thank you for this great question! The reason you have heard contradicting information about substitutions in the Disney Dining Plan is that they are subject to change and can vary per restaurant. I know that in the past, I was able to substitute my dessert at a Table Service restaurant for a fruit plate, side salad, or cup of soup if they are available. However, I was not able to select an “appetizer” from the menu and make the substitution in that way.

I am not sure which Disney Dining Plan you have, but as of 2017, the Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining now replaces the Quick Service meal dessert with an extra Snack Option each day! This is great news for those of us who don’t eat dessert with each meal!

If you have any dietary restrictions, I recommend contacting Disney Dining and adding it to each of your Dining Reservations, that way they will be able to best accommodate you! Also remember that you can make your Advanced Dining Reservations up to 180 days before arrival!

I hope this answers your question and you come back to see us again!

    Bon appetit!
