Hey Sherry-
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You, like me, are caught in the age old epic battle of kid verses food. According to the
Disney Dining Plan Guide, “Guests ages three to nine must order from a children’s menu where available.” Rest assured Walt Disney World restaurants are very accommodating to every palate. We run into this issue all the time and love that every restaurant menu is listed on the Disney website. Just
find your restaurant and click “View Menu” on the right side. Select, if available, Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner and see all the options. A kids menu will be listed.
If you look at the options and it seems that your child may eat the dish but it needs to be altered just ask the server. They may need to consult the chef but most dishes can be adjusted. Last summer we were at the Yak and Yeti Restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. On the Kids Menu they have Vegetable Lo Mein but my 7 year old son wanted plain pasta with plain tofu. The server consulted with the chef and Presto! he brought out plain rice with pan seared tofu and there was no issue with that meal and the Disney Dining Plan. My son still talks about this dish and asks us to make it at home.
After years of dining at Walt Disney World restaurants my kids have eaten, pizza, burgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, tuna fish sandwiches, salmon, pasta as well as a variety of delicious breakfast foods. I would suggest planning your meals for your kids before you arrive. With access to all menus and the ability to make advanced dining reservations, Walt Disney World restaurants are giving parents the upper hand in the kid verses food battle. Bon appetite.
Enjoy making many Magical Memories!
