With dining plan booked Chef Mickey and Garden grill, will have 6 year old boy What are other good character meals? Any inside Magic Kingdom? Does Backyard BBQ no longer accept dining plan? Never ate at WDW so anything is helpful grandsons first visit!

    Hi Paulette!

You are a wonderfully magical Grandmother bringing your grandson to Walt Disney World! How fun!

Sometimes the Walt Disney World website will indicate "Dining Plan not Accepted," but I can confirm for you via the following Dining Plan brochure here, Mickey's Backyard BBQ will accept a Dining Plan using 2 table service credits per guest, subject to availability. It's a great opportunity for your son to let off some steam and dance alongside the most popular Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse himself!

Other Character Dining favorites which will likely appeal to your grandson:
    • The Crystal Palace, located in Magic Kingdom, featuring Hundred-Acre Wood characters
    • Chef Mickey's, located at Disney's Contemporary Resort, featuring Mickey and Gang
    • Hollywood & Vine, located at Disney's Hollywood Studios, featuring Disney Junior characters
Depending on the Dining Plan you choose, I'd be happy to offer other advice on Advanced Dining Reservations. Please be sure to book your dining now for your upcoming trip. You can do so online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE (407-949-3463).

I've traveled many times with my own children at your grandson's age, and am delighted to offer my insight!

I wish you a magical, memorable time with your little Prince, and please visit us again soon!
