Hi Samantha,
Welcome back to planDisney and thank you for asking us another question. It’s truly lovely to see you again!
I’ve been travelling to the Disney Parks with my little guy for several years now and, although he’s much less fussy now, he was an incredibly picky eater as a toddler. I had the same concerns as you when we would visit
buffets and family style restaurants after he turned 3 because, as of that age, you do have to pay for their meals at those types of dining locations. This means that, yes, you will have to purchase a meal for your daughter during your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort if you visit locations like
‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort,
Liberty Tree Tavern at Magic Kingdom Park and, my new favourite,
Roundup Rodeo BBQ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
That said, be sure to speak to the Cast Member at the podium who will be greeting your party as well as your server in order to discuss your concerns about your little one’s ability (or desire) to eat off the proposed menu. For example, one year I visited ‘Ohana with a friend whose son only really ate chicken fingers and french fries and they were able to find him big heaping plates of both, even though they aren’t on the restaurant’s typical family style meal. I’d really recommend that you ask them about whether they can accommodate your little one’s needs during your visit – their answers may surprise you!
As always, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
