Hi Allyson,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. You said the magic word: Boma - Flavors of Africa. It’s one of my favorite places to eat in all of Walt Disney World – while the amazing buffet is the star of the show, the gorgeous décor and setting make it such a magical experience.
Allyson, I had a chance to meet a Disney Dining Cast Member, and she was passionate about Disney’s mission to make dining magical for those with
food allergies. She empathized with how stressful it can be to dine in restaurants, and wanted Guests to know that their team works hard to make it easy, so the focus can be on spending special time together and making amazing memories. Her advice? First, you can send an email to Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com to ask any questions you may have. You can also call Disney Dining at (407) WDW-DINE to add a note about your allergy to your reservations. Secondly, there are allergy-friendly menus at all Table Service dining locations. When you arrive, ask your host to see the allergy-friendly menu. You can also request to speak to the chef, who will be happy to walk you through the buffet and point out your options and answer questions.
At Boma’s buffet, you will be able to request your own portions of sauces and other items that may have been cross-contaminated. The Cast Members there will be happy to bring you your own serving of your requested item if at all possible. I love that the buffet is a mix of African-inspired and American options – be sure to try as much as you can fit in your belly, because the food is just so good! The best news? Your server can bring you a gluten-free version of their legendary zebra domes. You absolutely must try these delicious dessert items!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
