We are dining at Akershus during our visit and have a member of our party who is a dairy free and another gluten free. How are allergens accommodated in the family style of dining? Does the whole table need to eat the allergen safe spread?

    Hiya Erika!

Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney with your question. You are in for such a royal treat dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall with all the princesses! Be sure to have your cameras ready and autograph books open because you will not want to miss those magical meet-and-greet moments as each princess visits your table.

As a mom of two who has navigated multiple food allergies and intolerances, I completely understand how important this is, and I want to reassure you that you are in very good hands. So, let’s dive right into your question.

When you check in at the restaurant, let the Cast Member at the host stand know that there are two separate food allergies at your table. When your server greets you, share that information again to ensure they are aware as well.

You will be provided with allergy-friendly menus, and your server will walk you through safe options. You can also request to speak with the chef if that gives you extra peace of mind. Disney does an amazing job making sure every Guest can enjoy their meal safely while still feeling part of the magic.

With family-style dining, what I have experienced is that they will bring separate portions for those with allergies while still serving the standard dishes to the rest of the table. Allergy-friendly meals are usually marked with a visual indicator such as a pick, a special tray, or a sticker. Many times this marker is purple, although it can vary. If you are ever unsure, do not hesitate to ask a Cast Member to double-check. They are always happy to help keep your dining experience safe and stress-free.

While you are in the parks, be sure to use the My Disney Experience app to view allergy-friendly menus. These are typically listed at the bottom of each menu and make it so much easier to plan meals on the go. And of course, you can always ask a Cast Member for additional information.
Erika, I hope this helps to answer your question. Navigating food allergies can feel overwhelming, but Disney does a fantastic job of making it easy. If you have any more questions, feel free to stop by again.

    See you real soon,

    Christina
