Hey there Simone,
Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for your question! I am constantly fascinated with the work that Walt Disney Imagineering does around the Disney Parks and love any opportunities I can find to learn more about the history of the Walt Disney Company.
Luckily there are quite a few different ways to get a peak behind the Disney Magic depending on your budget!
My first suggestion would be to consider the
Disneyland Resort and Southern California Escape trip offered through Adventures by Disney. This Adventure earns the gold medal for behind-the-scenes opportunities to hear about all the hard work that goes into creating and maintaining Disney theme parks and resorts and includes a tour of Walt Disney Imagineering. In general, Adventures by Disney has been high up on my family's list of trips that we want to take - they all look incredible!
There was also a really fun
virtual tour of Walt Disney Imagineering on the Disney Parks Blog from a few years ago that is worth a watch.
If that is a bit out of your price range, then you could consider
The Walt Disney Studios Official Tour presented by D23! I had the opportunity to take this tour in 2022 and I had to continually pick my jaw up off the floor. We had a phenomenal tour guide who shared fun anecdotes and stories as she led us around the studios, and we got to actually go into Walt Disney's office suite, the Walt Disney Archives, and Legends Plaza. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in Disney history - it was unforgettable.
If you want to stick around the Disneyland Resort, you could do
Walt's Main Street Story Tour! This is another one that I've had the opportunity to experience and absolutely loved. You get to hear more about how Disneyland Park came to be and even get to visit Walt's apartment above the Disneyland Fire Station on Main Street, U.S.A.
Lastly, if you want more of a quicker detour, then I would recommend visiting the
Animation Academy in Disney California Adventure Park. In my opinion, this entire building located in Hollywood Land is a hidden gem that many people forget about. The Animation Academy experience, in particular, is so fun because you get to join a workshop led by a real Disney animator who will walk you through simple tips and techniques for drawing some of the most iconic Disney characters.
Thanks again for your question, Simone! You're going to have an extra dose of Disney Magic by experiencing any of these options above for your next trip - have fun!
Have a Magical Day,
Greg
