How difficult is it for 2 families to get together in the evenings/early mornings if one stays at the Polynesian and the other at animal kingdom lodge? Would we be better off staying at the same hotel?

    Hi Carrie,

Thanks for visiting Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I think the only experience more fun than a Walt Disney World vacation is a Walt Disney World vacation with families and friends and lots of "just hanging out" time.

Carrie, I think your answer depends on how you define "difficult" and how you define "get together." Getting around from one Walt Disney World Resort hotel to another can be easy breezy if the Resorts are located around the same theme park area. For example, the Epcot area Resorts — Disney's Yacht Club Resort, Disney's Beach Club Resort, and Disney's BoardWalk Inn — are pretty much steps away from each other. The Magic Kingdom area Resorts — Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney's Contemporary Resort — are an easy boat ride or Monorail route away, and Disney's Wilderness Lodge is also an easy boat ride. Getting to spend mornings and evenings together when one family is at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and the other family is at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort involves bus transportation or bus plus Monorail (or boat.) Of course, Minnie Van Service is an option as well. You can get a great feel for where all the Walt Disney World Resort hotels are located using the interactive Resorts map.

So, Carrie, I think if you're looking for a no-fuss "just come over" get together — I'm picturing hanging out for morning coffee or late-night chit-chat — then I think you want to arrange for either the same Resort hotel or at least Resort hotels in close proximity. Another idea is to look at the very cool Treehouse Villas at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa that sleep 9 and offer comfort in wooded environs.

    Enjoy your Disney!

The playful and creative optimism of all things Disney has enthralled me since I was a kid. I loved watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights, seeing all the live-action and animated classics in theaters, and — of course — visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth" for the first time 45 years ago. These days, the big kid in me still loves to play Disney. As a long-time Disney destinations vacationer, I'm looking forward to helping you play Disney starting here at planDisney!
