What are the differences between the Genie +, Lightning Lane and any other fast pass options for rides that might be available?

    Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for visiting planDisney with your Walt Disney World planning question. I am happy to share with you about Disney Genie+ Service and Individual Lightening Lanes. I will explain each of these in my answer, but I also recommend that you visit the website that I just linked. It gives good, detailed explanation of each option.

Both Disney Genie+ Service and Individual Lightening Lanes will allow you to experience reduced wait times for some attractions by bypassing the standby queue. They each come at an additional cost, and you can access each on the day of your visit to a Walt Disney World theme park. The link I provided above will give you lists of attractions available at each theme park for Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightening Lanes.

In order to purchase either Disney Genie+ Service or Individual Lightening Lanes, you must first have purchased valid theme park admission and be sure that you have a theme park reservation for that day. Do be sure that you are all set up and have these linked in your My Disney Experience account. On the day of your theme park visit, you can use the My Disney Experience Mobile App to access Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightening Lanes.

You can purchase either Disney Genie+ Service or Individual Lightening Lanes, or you can purchase both. You can also choose not to purchase either and still have a wonderful day in a Disney theme park, you just will not have access to the Lightening Lanes.

For Disney Genie+ Service, you can access this purchase just after midnight on the day of your planned theme park visit. Once you purchase Disney Genie+, you will be able to make Lightening Lane selections. You can make your first selection for a Lightening Lane at 7:00 a.m. on the day of your theme park visit. You can make another Lightening Lane selection once you have used the first one that you made, or two hours later, whichever comes first. Do note that for your second selection, the two-hour wait starts at park opening time, even if you made your first selection at 7:00 a.m. You can continue to make Lightening Lane selections throughout the day.

Individual Lightening Lanes are available on only a few attractions throughout Walt Disney World. You can purchase two Individual Lightening Lanes per day. Each will give you a return time for the attraction, where you will access the attraction through the Individual Lightening Lane. If you are a guest of a Disney Resort Hotel, the Walt Disney World Swan or Dolphin Hotels, or Shades of Green Resort, you can make your first Individual Lightening Lane Reservation at 7:00 a.m. All other guests can make their first Individual Lightening Lane selection at theme park opening.

I hope that this information is helpful for you, Jennifer. Please feel free to come back to planDisney if you have any further questions while planning your Walt Disney World vacation!
