What is the difference between standard and preferred room at value resorts?

Hi, We love to stay at the Pop Century.  The only difference we have found between the standard and preferred room has been the distance to the main building.  I find the further away the quieter it seems to be, although its not always true.  The main building is where the food court, gift shops, and bus stops for the various parks.  The rooms are physically the same in either category.
