What is the difference between standard parking and other parking. If you are staying in More great hotels near disney do you have to pay for parking?

    Hiya Kristine,

Welcome to planDisney! It is really exciting that you are planning a vacation to Walt Disney World Resort next February. I love visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth in February because it happens to be my birthday month! Also, this year will be extra extraordinary because the 50th Anniversary Celebration will still be happening at the Theme Parks. The event has already been incredible, so I can't wait to see how Imagineers build on the magic in 2023.

Let's start with your first question! At the Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks, there are three types of parking: Standard, Preferred, and Oversized Vehicle (all three are good all day). Unless you are arriving at the Theme Parks via shuttle, limo, camper trailer, bus, RV, or tractor-trailer, you shouldn't have to worry about the oversized vehicle option. Preferred parking pricing is seasonally based, but it is for spots closer to the theme park entrances. A lot of walking is involved in a visit to Walt Disney World Resort, so many Guests like to save their steps by paying a little extra for a closer parking spot. That said, we always use standard parking and don't feel that the extra distance is a problem (especially if you arrive early). Now on to the second part of your question. The hotels surrounding Walt Disney World Resort offer some fantastic amenities and can be an excellent way to save money during your vacation. In my experience, however, Theme Park parking is not one of them. I know that select hotels provide transportation to the Theme Parks from the hotel (some require a fee). Still, since the offerings at off-property hotels vary, I would suggest reaching out to the hotel you have a reservation for to inquire about the transportation offerings if you would like to save the parking fee.

I hope this was helpful, Kristine! One last thing, if you do decide to park at Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks, don't forget to try the new Car Locator feature in the My Disney Experience mobile app. Sometimes you have so much fun at the Theme Park that where you parked your car slips out of your mind. With this handy new tool, you can input your parking location (or using your mobile device's location services) to save you from a Dory moment.

    Happy Planning,

    Ashley F.
