What is the difference between reservations stating both parks available vs “starting park”. Would I be able to go to Both parks regardless?

    Hey there, Jan!

It's great to see you here at planDisney. Thanks so much for your question!

You're starting off with some great planning by looking at the Theme Park Reservation Availability calendar before purchasing your tickets to visit the theme parks at Disneyland Resort.

When you make your reservation with the Theme Park Reservations system, you will need to select a theme park to start your day, and you'll need to visit that theme park first. Guests can only make one theme park reservation per day.

The Theme Park Reservation Availability calendar will let you see quickly which theme parks have reservations that you can select to start your visit for a specific day. It could be that both theme parks have reservations available for you to select. It could be that only Disneyland Park has reservations available. It could be that only Disney California Adventure Park has reservations available. It could be that neither park has reservations available.

You might be planning to visit only the theme park where you have a reservation on the day you visit.

If you'd like to visit both theme parks in the same day, you will want to have a Park Hopper Ticket, and in that case you can begin in the park where you made a reservation to start your day and then park hop to the other park after 1 p.m. if that park has capacity.

Jan, I hope this helps you with planning your visit to Disneyland Resort. Be sure to follow the Disney Parks Blog for updates on all the happenings at the theme parks.

Here's wishing you lots of Disney magic in your day today!

Meet the Panelist: Jerry, Pennsylvania

The playful and creative optimism of all things Disney has enthralled me since I was a kid. I loved watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights, seeing all the live-action and animated classics in theaters, and — of course — visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth" for the first time 45 years ago. These days, the big kid in me still loves to play Disney. As a long-time Disney destinations vacationer, I'm looking forward to helping you play Disney starting here at planDisney!
