Hello. What's the difference between Park Hours and rope drop? Are lockers on Main Street, U.S.A. and Buena Vista Street accessible before rope drop? If so, how much earlier? Thank you!

Hi J, and welcome back to planDisney! Your trip is just a few weeks away, and the excitement must be building.

To answer your question, park hours are the hours that both theme parks are open for the day. You can find these hours in the Disneyland Mobile App. The term "Rope Drop" refers to arriving right before or at the theme park opening time. When my kids were little and did not sleep in, my family were Rope Drop pros! We would show up to the Main Entrance right before the park opened, and be in line for our first ride just moments after. It is a great strategy for getting on those coveted, high-thrill rides like Space Mountain and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disneyland Park, and Toy Story Midway Mania! and Radiator Springs Racers in Disney California Adventure Park.

J, things to note about Rope Drop strategy. The Disneyland Resort Parking locations open 60 minutes before the earliest standard Disneyland Resort theme park opening time. So if you decide to Rope Drop and you are driving to the theme parks, I think that getting to the parking area as close to its opening time will hopefully guarantee that you'll make it through the Security Area and onto a tram or bus well before either park opens!

There are Locker Rental areas located right outside the Main Entrance gates at each theme park - both of those are open before the theme parks open. Any locker areas in the theme parks themselves, would be available once the parks open. In the Disneyland Mobile App, if you use the search tool and type "locker rentals" it will allow you to see all of the locker areas available at the Disneyland Resort on a map.

I hope this answers your questions, J. Thank you for stopping back by. If you have any more questions, please feel free to come back and ask me directly.

    Cheers,
    Melissa
