Welcome to planDisney, Colleen! I'm so glad you stopped by with your question about one of my favorite products to maximize the magic during a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort -
Lightning Lane Passes! This tool allows guests to minimize wait times by using a Lightning Lane entrance at select attractions, so let's dig a little deeper into the details of how it works and what options you have as a guest looking to use them!
Colleen, currently guests have the option to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and/or Lightning Lane Single Pass (which was previously similar to the Individual Lightning Lane system). With Lightning Lane Multi Pass, guests pay a one-time fee per person per day and have the ability to preselect 3
attractions at the theme park they will be visiting on this day. Once a guest redeems their first Multi Pass selection, they can book another attraction (subject to availability). This next attraction can be in the same theme park, or, if the guest is using a ticket that includes park hopper access, it can be at any of the theme parks! This process can continue throughout the day, so the guest can select an additional pass each time a pass is redeemed! I personally love to use Multi Pass on park-hopping days because it allows me to redeem attractions at my first park of the day and then plan for afternoon attractions at my next destination; by the time I hop, I try to have 3 new attractions waiting for me!
With Lightning Lane Single Pass, guests pay a one-time fee per person for select attractions that are not included with the Lightning Lane Multi Pass. At this time, Lightning Lane Single Pass is offered for the following attractions:
- Animal Kingdom Theme Park: Avatar Flight of Passage
- Magic Kingdom: TRON Lightcycle/Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- EPCOT: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
- Hollywood Studios: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Guests are eligible to book Lightning Lane Multi Pass and up to two Lightning Lane Single Pass attractions on the same day; if you are
park hopping, you can select Multi Pass in one park and Single Pass in any of the parks you will be visiting for the day. I've combined Multi Pass at Animal Kingdom with Single Pass for both TRON and Guardians of the Galaxy on a day when I was planning to visit all of the theme parks to ensure I had the chance to maximize thrills with low wait times!
Colleen, one last tip before I let you go - the
booking window for these products opens up to 7 days in advance of check-in for a guest who has a Disney Resort hotel reservation and 3 days in advance of a park visit for a guest who does not have a resort reservation. Keep this in mind as you will find the best selections and availability for popular attractions as early in your booking window as possible! You can also
modify your selections once you've made them if you find your plans change!
I hope this helps, Colleen! I'm wishing you a magical visit, low wait times, and lots of fun experiencing all of the best attractions at the theme parks! Come back to
planDisney any time if we can help with anything else!
See you real soon,
Alison
