    What’s the difference between a DCL DisneyBand+ and a Disney Magic Band+? We hope both to cruise with DCL and visit the parks at WDW in future so wonder which would be best to get?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Ben. It's a pleasure to continue to help you with your Disney vacation planning.

    As an engineer, I'm fascinated by the technology behind the convenient wristbands available for purchase at the Disney theme parks or on board the Disney Cruise Line. It turns out the same technology and architecture are found in all of the bands with the '+' suffix. So whether you buy a MagicBand+ while visiting the Walt Disney World Resort or you buy a DisneyBand+ aboard the Disney Cruise Line, you'll enjoy the same convenience and functionality.

    Moreover, bands purchased on your cruise ship will work if you use them at the theme parks. And bands purchased at the theme parks may be used on the Disney Cruise Line. That interchangeable nature goes for all the basics, such as opening a hotel room/stateroom and paying for purchases, as well as the exciting interactivity available in select spaces and during select entertainment.

    When it comes to selecting a DisneyBand+, my recommendation is to purchase the one with the design that appeals to you most. Since it doesn't matter if you purchase your band on the ship or on the shore, you'll have the flexibility to continue to reuse your band in every available situation.
