Hi Tif,
Thank you for stopping by planDisney today with your question about choosing your Disney Resort Collection hotel for your upcoming vacation at Walt Disney World!
I have a large family and we have stayed at both of the Disney Resort Collection hotels that you are considering. Both are great choices and are in fact my top choices in the Value Resort hotels category, so you cannot go wrong with either choice. Let me tell you a little more about each Resort so you can make a better decision.
First,
Disney's Art of Animation Resort is a fully immersive experience with life-sized versions of some of your favorite Disney characters decorated throughout the Resort. It doesn't matter if you are a kid or a kid-at-heart, when you walk by the life-sized Lightning McQueen it is sure to put a smile on your face. This Resort has many family suites which are approximately 565 square feet and include a dedicated bedroom with a queen bed and ensuite bathroom, a living area with pullout double sofa bed, and a double table bed. There is also a second bathroom and a small kitchenette that has a bar sized sink, microwave, coffeemaker and small refrigerator. The theming in these family suites is also exceptional! My family has stayed in a Cars family suite, and we loved it so much. Another great feature about this Resort is the
Big Blue Pool which is the largest pool at the Walt Disney World Resort.
At
Disney's Pop Century Resort, the theme is "larger than life" and pop culture decorations from past decades, as well as classic Disney characters, are scattered throughout the Resort. In fact, I like this Disney Resort so much that my family of 5 adults and 2 teenagers are planning on staying here next spring! We love it because the standard rooms have one queen bed and one queen table bed in each standard room. We prefer the size of a queen bed over the size of a double bed now that my kids are "grownish". The table beds are very comfortable and fold up when you want more space in your room. Additionally, each standard room has a small refrigerator and a coffee maker.
Both of these great Resorts have access to the
Disney Skyliner which provides transportation to
Disney's Hollywood Studios and
EPCOT. For transportation to the other theme parks and Disney Springs, bus transportation is available.
As for
transportation from the Orlando International Airport and your Disney Resort Collection hotel, you can set that up on your own and have a few options. You may rent a car, use ride share, book a private car, or book a shuttle bus. Usually, the most economical option is to book a shuttle bus. In my opinion, I think the most convenient option is to book a shuttle bus through
Mears Connect driven by Sunshine.
Have a Magical vacation and be sure to come back and visit us here at planDisney with all of your vacation planning questions!
