This is a diff. ques. to sum up in short. We have a very large family (11 people)& are on a very tight budget. My moms dream has always been to go to Disney & take us with her. What is the best way to perform this miracle for her on our very tight

    Tory:

I would suggest three options for your family:

    • Consider Disney's Free dining offer here!  Book three rooms at the Value resorts, purchase at least a one-day park ticket and receive your meals free during your stay!  The secret: Although Disney's ticket prices drop dramatically once you buy a three-day park ticket, don't buy tickets for days you may not use!  Consider spending a day or two at the resort as a family enjoying the pool: saving $10 a person can add up!
    • Family Suites at All-Star Music:  If your dates don't allow you to visit during free dining, this is your most economical option.  Each sleeps six and has a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, two baths and separate bedroom.  Best of all, use the kitchenette for breakfast and another meal: items like lasagna, hotdogs, and potatoes work well!
    • Cabins at Fort Wilderness: More expensive than the All-Star Family Suites, but the full kitchen gives you more meal options, and its campground offers more activities outside the park, helping you save on multiple days in the park.  The recently renovated pool has a large slide as well as a water play area for the young ones.  Our family loves Chip 'n' Dale's campfire singalong and outdoor movie (and it's free).  Bring your fishing pole and you can fish from the pier on the lake!

Lastly, another way to save money with a crowd is to plan your visit and the parks you'll visit each day in advance so you can get the one-park-only ticket instead of a park hopper.  That alone will save you $50 a person.  Oh, and don't forget to visit our archives on Budget Travel to the parks!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
