Hi diddle de, it's WDW for me(us), As my partner is 50 and it's her first visit to see Mickey, I'd like to add a few special touches to our stay in Oct at Port Orleans Riverside. Any ideas of things other have done, many thanks.

    Hi Nigel,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. It sounds like you are planning a wonderful vacation! Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is beautiful. It has a theme full of rural Louisiana charm. I love that you are looking for some special touches for your partner's first visit to Walt Disney World. Let me offer you some thoughts.

Be sure to get her a "First Visit" button. These are available free of charge at Guest Relations at the theme parks and at many other locations throughout Walt Disney World. Wearing this button will signal cast members and other guests that this is your partner's first time experiencing the magic of Walt Disney World. Although no special treatment is guaranteed, you never know when a little extra pixie dust might be sprinkled on your vacation!

Consider a horse-drawn carriage ride. My family has done these, and they are a lovely way to spend time with each other, and to see a relaxed side of Walt Disney World. Lucky for you, there are horse-drawn carriage rides available at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. You can make a reservation by calling 407-WDW-PLAY (407-939-7529).

Finally, take advantage of the location of your resort by taking a boat ride on the Sassagoula River. Transportation is provided from your resort along the Sassagoula River to Disney Springs, the newly re-imagined shopping, entertainment, and dining area. You can spend some time shopping and dining at fantastic new shops and eateries at Disney Springs, or simply enjoy the peaceful boat ride.

I hope that these thoughts give you some ideas, Nigel! Please do let us know if you have any further questions.
