Hi Diane! In A previos post you mentioned recieving A complimentary upgrade at the Contemporary. My Q is, did you ask upon check-in, or did they surprise you? Do you have any tips on how to get upgraded? Thanks for your reply!

Hello Tiffani and thanks for your question! No, I did not ask for an upgrade at check-in. I typically book a room based on what my budget can comfortably handle for that trip and see what happens from there. Most of the time, you get what you pay for but it does bring a little magic to your vacation when you find out you've received a complimentary upgrade!

I'm not sure what factors are involved when upgrades are given. It could be that the resort has booked too many rooms in the category you reserved, or maybe a large group has requested to be assigned near each other. I guess it's all part of the magic.

As far as you receiving an upgrade at the Contemporary, you may want to record any special occasions you may be celebrating on your reservation. Or if you have a child who loves monorails, make a note of that, indicate you'd appreciate being as close to the monorails as possible. Of course you can always nicely ask at check-in if that is something you are comfortable doing.

I think the main idea is to go into your reservation expecting nothing and be thrilled if/when you receive the upgrade! Sending tons of pixie dust your way...I hope you get one! Diane
