Hi Diane. I live in Torrington, CT and I was wondering if you have ever driven to WDW and if so - have you discovered any pleasant routes other than 8 south to 95 south? Leaving next week with hubby and 3 children and would like a more scenic ride. ( :

Hi Bonnie!  Gosh, we are practically neighbors...I do the majority of my shopping in Torrington!

Yes, we have driven to/from Disney several times.  I have found that the more scenic routes also add time to your trip.  However, the more scenic routes are usually less congested with traffic, making for a less stressful trip.

My husband prefers to avoid 95 in the Northeast.  We do this by traveling Rt 8 to 84 to 81 to 83 and we pick up 95 in Maryland.  The ride through Pennsylvania is unbelievably beautiful.  Last year we took it a step further.  Instead of getting on 83, we stayed on 81 to 77 to 26 to 95 in South Carolina.  We found this to be very scenic as well.  I would probably do this route again in the future.

Although I've never tried it, I've had friends who have traveled through the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I hope this helps...have a safe and magical vacation at Disney!  Diane  :)
