Welcome to planDisney, Mckeethen!
I'm happy to see that you'll be visiting The Most Magical Place on Earth here in just a few days! I hope you're getting packed. Don't forget good sunscreen, sunglasses, a fan, and an umbrella! We experience a decent amount of UV rays and rain showers in these summer months -- you'll want to be prepared.
I had the pleasure of traveling to Walt Disney World with my grandmother many times; she had diabetes her whole life and managed to have full and exciting days at Disney World! She was able to enjoy food at the places we went to and was able to stand in the lines for rides but took breaks when she needed them. When she had questions about food in regard to her blood sugar, she asked for assistance from Cast Members. Though we never needed to use them, we always made sure we knew where the First Aid Centers were at each of the Theme Parks.
Now, every person who has diabetes is completely unique and you may need some additional safeguards in place for your vacation. If you are not comfortable/able to stand in lines due to your diabetes type and experience, I highly recommend looking into
Disability Access Service, Mckeethen. If you feel that you qualify for this service, you need to
register as soon as possible by entering into a live video chat with a DAS Cast Member. If you are unable to do this before your vacation if this service is something you feel you need, please visit Guest Services upon your arrival at the theme parks to speak with a Cast Member.
As for food locations, Mckeethen; I know that each person balancing their diabetes has different needs. I'm going to point you in the direction of the
Special Dietary Requests page for you to look over. Each restaurant will have special menus and ingredient lists available for you if needed. Please chat with the Cast Members that are at the dining locations you visit as they will be able to help answer any questions you may have.
Please also familiarize yourself with the
First Aid Centers. These locations are available at all of the theme parks and have trained staff that can offer assistance if needed.
You're going to have an incredible time at Disney World, and your preparation is going to make it even better! If you have any additional questions before you arrive, please let us know!
See ya real soon,
Allyn
