Anchors Aweigh, Roy!
Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for sailing by with your question. How exciting that you have a Disney Cruise on the horizon. Our family loves Disney Cruise Line cruises, as it is a wonderful way to discover dazzling places we never knew while being immersed in the magic of Disney.
Roy, as the mom of preteen twins and a teen, along with the need for my husband and I to do a bit of work when we travel, I understand the need to be connected. There is a free
DCL-Guest wireless network for all Guests onboard, which allows you to use the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app while onboard to stay connected to all of the events and activities happening each day. However, to access the internet, social media, and email, you will need to purchase one of the
internet packages. You will have the option to purchase packages with up to four devices or choose separate packages for each Guest in your stateroom.
There are two options for the internet packages. One is for basic internet services like checking news, emails, posting on social media, etc., but it does not support YouTube or long-form video streaming like watching movies. The other plan is for faster internet, and it can support video streaming.
When we last sailed, we decided to only purchase the premium internet for two devices because each additional device cost extra. When one of my kids wanted to use the WiFi, we would log one of the devices off so they could log in on their device for a bit. Because the costs of the internet packages are rather expensive, I would recommend taking turns if you won't need four devices to be logged in at the same time all day. If you select a package with multiple devices, you will use the same login details. So it is easy to take turns accessing the internet - just log someone out and someone else can log in.
Here's a tip, Roy. The
Disney Navigator app has a chat feature where you can communicate with the other members of your party while on board the ship. As this app can be accessed on the free DCL-wireless Guest network while onboard, you won't need the paid WiFi to communicate with your party on the ship. This is how we kept in touch with our kids while they were making a splash in the teen club and we were enjoying the adult pool.
I hope this helps you, Roy! If you have any further Disney Cruise Line questions, stop by and give us a wave. We will be so happy to help you find the treasure that you seek.
Bon Voyage,
Keri
