Hi there, Jeremiah!
From one Floridian to another, welcome to planDisney. MagicBands are some of the easiest devices to help you tap into the magic while on a Disney World vacation. Although I love using my smartwatch’s digital wallet and
Disney MagicMobile on my cell phone, nothing beats a tried and true MagicBand and MagicBand+.
With a MagicBand, you can enter Lightning Lanes (pre-purchased in the
My Disney Experience app), scan for your
Disney PhotoPass photos, and of course, get into the theme parks and water parks (with valid park admission). And if you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you can use the band to enter your hotel room and to send in-park purchases to your hotel stay’s folio.
I’m happy to hear that your MagicBands are still connected to your account in the My Disney Experience app. The only real way to know if your older versions of the MagicBand still work is to try them when you get to Disney World property. Throughout the years, I have heard that MagicBands should only last about 2 to 3 years. However, I have many older-generation MagicBands that still function perfectly fine while at the parks. I just used an old 2019 Minnie Mouse-themed MagicBand to open my
All-Star Movies hotel room door earlier this month. I also used it to get my crew’s on-ride photos. There’s plenty of magic still left in it!
AN EXTRA GEM: If you discover that your MagicBands no longer work, I recommend purchasing the newer
MagicBand+. You can find them online at the Disney Store or in most gift shops and stores at Resort hotels, theme parks, and Disney Springs.
I’m sending pixie dust your way, Jeremiah! If you have additional questions about your upcoming trip, please don’t hesitate to
ask us here at planDisney. Magic always,
LeAndra
