Hello Derek. Could u compare Coronado Springs and PO Riverside? Trying to decide between the 2 and would love another opinion. Planing a trip in June for my dear niece's 18th birthday and high school graduation. Thanks and Welcome!!

    Hi Jennifer!

Thank you so much for sending me your question.  What a cool birthday and graduation present for your niece!  My niece will be graduating from high school in a few years, so you've just planted a seed in my head for how we can celebrate.  (I'm always looking for a good excuse to head down to Walt Disney World!)

The good thing about your choice between Coronado Springs and Port Orleans (Riverside) is that you can't go wrong with either.  They're both amazing resorts that are centrally located in the Walt Disney World property, so you'll be close to all the action.  Since this will be a trip to celebrate your niece and her accomplishments, I'll try to look at it from the eyes of a young adult.

When I was 18, I really started to get into live music and concerts.  The Port Orleans resort has two venues for live entertainment most nights of the week - The River Roost Lounge and Scat Cat's Club (on the French Quarter side).  Both offer family-friendly live music, but winding the day down in a club-like environment may be a neat treat for a young adult like your niece.

The other thing I was famous for when I was 18 was lounging around the pool.  The pool area at Coronado Springs is amazing!  It's got a cool vibe that I think she would really dig.  Plus, if she makes some new friends during your visit, they can get a pickup game of volleyball going at their sand volleyball court!

Those were the first things that came to mind for me.  Both resorts have a whole host of other recreation options that I know your niece will really enjoy when you're taking a break from the theme parks.

I hope that helped and I hope you have an awesome celebration with your family!
