Hey Howdy Hey Georgia and welcome to planDisney!
Thank you for reaching out with your question about deposits to your vacation package and potential refunds. I will be happy to review the current policy with you so you are better prepared.
When booking a vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort, deposits are required for vacation packages as well as room-only reservations. Vacation packages include a stay at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel as well as Theme Park Tickets. When booking a vacation package, if you need to cancel, as long as you do so before 30 days from your date of arrival, you will receive a full refund. 30 days before your arrival, your final payment is due in full. Cancelations made between 2 and 29 days from your date of arrival will lose your deposit with all these dates based on the
current policy and cancelations less than 2 days lose the full amount. Room-only reservations can be canceled 5 days or more from the date of arrival and still get a full refund. Anything less than 5 days will lose the deposit.
If you think there may be an off chance you need to cancel your vacation, I would encourage you to look into
travel insurance. There is a plan available through the Walt Disney World when booking your vacation you can look into. I would encourage you to look through the policy and if you know you may have health issues for example, look to see if the policy will cover your particular concern. This may be a good way to protect your vacation in the event of an unforeseen obstacle that causes you to miss your trip yet still redeem most if not all of the money if you need to cancel.
I hope this helps give you more peace of mind when booking your vacation. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach back out and let us know, we are always happy to help!
Have a Magical day,
Nick
