    We are departing on the Marvel Disney Magic in Jan 2019 from Florida and my wife has been trying to get information on the fish extenders group. We've talked with Disney, searched the internet and this is the only contact we've found.

    Hi there, Roger!

    Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  I am so excited to hEAR your family is heading out on a Disney Cruise Line vacation – and not only will you get to experience a MAGICal adventure at sea, but having a day dedicated to all things Marvel will be so much fun!  If you are not a Marvel fan yet, get prepared!

    The Fish Extender exchange is an activity that is not organized through Disney Cruise Line.  It is simply a gift exchange between cabins that is organized by an individual prior to setting sail and then small gifts are exchanged once onboard.  Guests will usually hang a pocketed bag from the “fish” hanger that is outside each stateroom.  Participation in a fish extender group is completely optional and can be a lot of fun but is sometimes some extra work ahead of a cruise that others prefer to not partake in.  Fish extender groups can usually be found through some social media groups that have been organized for your specific sailing date.  Search for your sail date, along with key words like your ship’s name and hopefully you will find what you are looking for.  If you join the group, you should be able to find additional information about fish extender groups for your voyage.

    With so many activities and entertainment options awaiting you onboard, do not feel as though you must participate in one of these additional exchanges.  My family will participate in it for some of our sailings and others we simply want to enjoy what the ship has to offer and not stress over getting gifts delivered and organized ahead of time!  You can always plan your NEXT Disney Cruise Line vacation while onboard, taking advantage of onboard future cruise booking specials and join in on that fun for that next adventure at sea!
