Is the deluxe meal plan worth the price?

    Hi Donna,

Every time we go on a Disney vacation I ask myself this same question.  The answer? It depends.  I know that's vague, but let me try to explain.

With the deluxe plan, you get 3 meal credits/person for each night of your stay.  Those can be used at either counter service or table service restaurants.  You also get 2 snacks and a refillable drink mug.  If you want to spend the majority of your time enjoying attractions and will most likely stop for a quick bite to eat while running around, then the deluxe dining plan is not for you.  You'll end up with leftover credits, and you will have spent way to much money.

On the other hand, if you enjoy character dining and signature restaurants, then the deluxe dining option is both convenient and a great value!  On this plan you can use one credit each day for a character breakfast - it's a great way to start your day in the parks.  Plan on grabbing a quick snack mid-afternoon, then use up 2 credits at a signature dining location.  You'll still have one snack credit left to buy something to munch on should you decide to stay up for extra magic hours.

The great thing about the plan is that everything is paid for up front.  You'll be able to enjoy some of the best restaurants Disney has to offer, but you can relax and enjoy everything more because the bill has already been taken care of.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
