Hi, Betsy!
For me, this is a super easy question.
Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter is simply one of my favorite resorts on property. At around 1,000 rooms, this resort is very manageable whether you are walking to the bus stop, food court, movie under the stars, or just a stroll around this lovely property.
With a younger Mouseketeer, I think this resort is perfect. After a long day in the parks, it will be nice to know that you are just a few minute walk from one end of this resort to the other. To minimize walking, book a Standard Room and request Building 4. You will literally be steps away from just about everything.
The pool area is perfect for a 5 year old. There is a not-so-scary slide along with a new splash area, perfect for cooling off on a hot Florida day. You will also enjoy the convenience of the boat transportation that will take you to
Disney Springs.
Each room at French Quarter has cozy queen beds, double sinks, and a privacy curtain great for families. You also will not want to miss the made to order Beignets at the bakery!
Riverside is also nice, and just about 15 minute walk from French Quarter. Feel fee to hop between these sister resorts to enjoy pools, bike rentals, food courts, and even horse and carriage rides. The fun never ends!
Wishing you a magical stay in Walt Disney World!
Cathy
