I am deciding to plan my visit in either 3rd week January before the 100 anniversary or in Feb around the 2nd week and am trying to avoid large crowds. Which would be best between the 2?

Hi Mitra! Welcome to planDisney! I'm so glad you found us and sent this great question our way. I'm happy to help!

How exciting that you're planning to visit The Happiest Place on Earth! I can relate to wanting to avoid larger crowds during your visit. It can be tough to predict when Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park will not be crowded, however, there are some things you can consider that will hopefully help make your decision. In my opinion, the best place to get an idea of how busy the theme parks may or may not be is to check the Theme Park Reservation Availability Calendar. As of this moment, reservations appear to be readily available for both weeks you are considering.

While I anticipate that the theme parks will be busier once the Disney100 Celebration begins, the third week in January does align with the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday and it's possible the beginning of that week could be busier as a result. The second week in February could be busy towards the weekend with Valentine's Day happening a few days later. If you decide that you prefer to visit in February, you will want to plan accordingly for the dates that Disneyland After Dark: Sweethearts’ Nite is scheduled. On the dates for this special event, Disneyland Park will close earlier to guests that do not have a ticket for the event.

I hope this information helps you make a decision. If you have more planning questions, please visit us again at planDisney. We would love to help!

    Happy Planning!
