Deciding between March, April or May for our first visit. Which of these months (or sections of these months) typically has the lowest crowds?

    Hi Laurel,

What a great question!  I have planned the exact same vacation for my family and came up with a conclusion:  With a little planning, any time will be Magical!  However since you have flexibility with your schedule, I do have some advice.

In my opinion, if you can vacation during non-holiday times you will generally find lower attendance.  In this case, Easter of 2021 is in early April and many vacationers will take advantage of schools having a break during this time and will visit Walt Disney World with their families during the week leading up to and for a few days after the Easter holiday.  Another factor affecting crowd levels is spring break in the United States.  Thankfully not everyone will have spring break at the same time, but generally mid March through mid April you will find consistent spring breakers having a great time at Walt Disney World.  (My family included!)  Therefore if having low attendance levels is your primary goal, I recommend considering late April through most of May.  In late May there is usually an uptick in visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth as schools let out and Memorial Day weekend approaches.

Laurel those recommendations are my "usual" recommendations but the situation with the world is anything but usual.  If you are considering vacationing in 2021 you should know that to promote physical distancing, Walt Disney World has initiated the Disney Park Pass System to limit attendance in the theme parks.  Therefore no matter which month you decide to visit in early 2021, attendance will be capped at lower than normal levels for the time being.  Guests need to have a valid admission (ticket) as well as a reservation with the Disney Park Pass System to visit theme parks.  You can make these reservations now through September 2021.

One other little tidbit I want to share with you is that since you will be visiting in the springtime, you will most likely be visiting during the time an amazing festival is occurring ~ EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.  One of the great things about this festival is that it is included with your admission to EPCOT so you should definitely plan on taking advantage of strolling through the beautiful topiaries and gardens.

Thank you for stopping by with your question and please come back and visit us again!  Wishing you a Magical first visit!
