Hi Matthew! Oh such a tough question to answer tonight. Heading to Walt Disney World in July does indeed mean a hot and likely humid weather vacation but mixing it with all the fun and magic makes it a great time to go.
One of my families favorite dinner shows is the
Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue held in Pioneer Hall at the Fort Wilderness Campground Resort. We never tire of the jokes and singing and of course the great food. However, we have also enjoyed
Mickey's Backyard BBQ which also takes place at Fort Wilderness right behind Pioneer Hall.
The Barbecue show is quite unique and I feel worth trying at least once. If the summer is the only time you can go then hope for a cool dry night and book it for the family. There will be a live band and the kids will be entertained by a roping cowboy who will share some tricks and even get a few kids up to help him. Of course Mickey and his best buddies will also join him out on the dance floor where the children can all go to dance the night away. There are few places where you can get this kind of character interaction. If you have a shy child or one that does not want to get into the melee of the dance floor then head over to either side of the stage and you will find characters in a more quiet setting. Understand that this is not a time for autographs or posed pictures but certainly take as many shots as you can capture on your own camera.
If you arrive early you will have an opportunity to meet and greet a few characters before the evening begins. The food is a buffet but know that it is basically the same food you would get at the Hoop Dee Doo so if you loved that fare then you will love it there.
