If we decided to stay at Port Orleans with our 2 and 5 year olds instead of a deluxe resort on the monorail (4-5 night trip), do you think we would be frustrated with the bus situation? Getting to the parks in the morning, meals & naps & getting b

    Hi Alison:

I have two boys, ages 5 and 4, who have been traveling to Walt Disney World since they were infants.  My family normally hits  the Parks in the morning and returns to our Resort in the afternoon for naps, pool or quiet family time before heading back out for dinner.  Most of these vacations have been spent in non-monorail Resorts.  Indeed, on a number of those vacations, we've stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is relatively "far" away from three of the four Parks and not on a monorail line, and we have never been overly frustrated with the bus service to and from the Parks and Resorts.

Buses are generally scheduled to depart every twenty minutes or so, but we find they often arrive earlier.  On some very minor occasions, you may wait for what feels like a long time for bus, and with tired kids, these waits can feel even longer.  However, despite the occasional transportation hiccup, we've never felt overly frustrated with the Resort transportation.  On the vast majority of occasions, Disney bus transportation is quick and efficient.  I admit that monorails can really help out with transportation to Magic Kingdom and Epcot, but they should not make or break the vacation for you.

    Enjoy your vacation.
