Hello! We have decided to join my sister and her family at Walt Disney World. She is staying at the Contemporary Resort. We are staying off property. We want to go to the parks together. Can we meet her at her hotel and leave our car there?

    Hi Jenny,

How exciting that you are going to be able to meet your sister and her family for a Walt Disney World vacation! Some of our favorite visits have included my sister's family from out-of-state.

As you might imagine, parking at the resorts on the monorail is highly coveted. That's why it is reserved for those who are staying in the resorts or who have a dining reservation at that resort. All-day parking isn't permitted for anyone except resort guests.

For Magic Kingdom, you and your family can park in the regular parking and take the monorail or ferry from the Transportation and Ticket Center to meet your sister at the park entrance. Or, if you want to meet them in the Contemporary, choose the resort monorail instead. It will let you off inside the hotel.

From there, it's just a 5- to 10-minute walk back to the Magic Kingdom entrance, so you can all go together. Maybe you even want to have a quick breakfast at the Contempo Cafe. Or you can make a reservation for Chef Mickey's at the beginning or end of your day.

For the other theme parks, it probably is easiest to meet your sister's family at the park entrances at a specified time. As resort guests, they are entitled to use the free Disney transportation or park their personal car (if they have one with them) for free.

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. Please let us know if we can offer any more tips or advice as you plan our vacation. Enjoy your time with your family!
