If we decide to drive to the parks instead of taking the buses, would we have to take the monrail or boat to get to MK? We are staying at All Star Movies and son't want to spend a lot of time on the buses.About how long does it take to drive to MK and AK?

    Hi Laura!

When driving your own car to the Magic Kingdom, you actually park at the Transportation & Ticket Center. If you are in one of the closest lots you can walk to the TTC where you can choose to ride the monorail or take the ferry to the Magic Kingdom. If you are in one of the lots farther away from the TTC there are trams that come by and will transport you.

Driving your own car would take you about ten minutes to get to Animal Kingdom and about 25-30 minutes to get to the Magic Kingdom. I prefer to drive to all of the theme parks. While the Disney system can be convenient, I like not having to wait for a bus and I never have to worry about long lines at the end of the day to get a bus back to our resort. It can be quicker to get a bus to the Magic Kingdom because it will drop you off right at the front gate which allows you to avoid transferring to a monorail or ferry at the TTC. This is assuming that you get a bus right away and don't have to wait at your resort for the Magic Kingdom bus to come by.

In my personal experience I have never regretted driving to the parks instead of taking Disney transportation. I hope things go as smoothly for you! Have a wonderful vacation.
