If I have a December use year and I am planning a vacation in Dec. 2025, do I have to bank my Dec. 2024 points to use them for my trip, or will the reservation system automatically make the adjustment and allow me to secure the reservation?

Welcome Home, Betty - and welcome to planDisney! I'm so glad you decided to be our guest. As a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member, I have plenty of experience navigating the ins and outs of our family's Membership. Those Vacation Points can be a little tricky, and I'll be happy to help with your question!

December is always a great time for a magical getaway - no one celebrates the holidays quite like Disney! Since it's a very popular travel window for many Guests, it's a good idea to book early whenever you can! This is where your Home Resort Priority Period comes into play, as you can reserve accommodations at your Home Resort beginning 11 months before your desired check-in date. Members have even more options for magical stays, with the opening of the Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows expanding our vacation horizons!

Betty, whenever you are booking a reservation that crosses Use Years, you must bank and borrow points accordingly. To make your December 2025 vacation plans a reality, you will need to bank 2024 points so that you can use them for the trip. They will not automatically be pulled when you book online. You can bank up to 100% of your December 2024 points at any time during the first 8 months of your Use Year. The deadline to bank is July 31, 2025. This handy chart from the DVC website lists all of the banking deadlines, and I highly recommend bookmarking it for future reference!

To ensure that you have a clear understanding of where points are being pulled from to make your booking, you can call Member Services. The Cast Members there are always incredibly helpful, and they can look at all of the specific details of your Membership and answer any questions that you might have. I am constantly chatting them up for planDisney research, and they are endlessly patient!

I hope this information is just what you need, Betty, and that you can snag the reservation you're hoping for to enjoy the 2025 holiday season in the best Disney style. Thanks so much for visiting planDisney, and please stop by again anytime if we can help with other questions about Disney Vacation Club or any other Disney destinations.

    Stay Magical!
