I have a December use year. If i don't bank my points, can I use them to make a reservation in August with a check in date of December 10th?

Hey there, Charles! Welcome to planDisney and Welcome Home! I'm so happy that you've stopped by with your vacation planning question. Chatting Disney with a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member always makes my day!

Isn't being a DVC Member so magical?! Knowing that your next pixie-dusted adventure is on the horizon and always having a running countdown to an unforgettable Disney vacation is priceless. But as magical as it is, with Use Years, booking windows and expiration dates, it can be just as confusing. But that's what I'm here for, Charles, and I'm thrilled to answer your question and help you plan your next getaway!

Since you have a December Use Year, your Use Year runs from December 1st to November 30th of the following year. That means that in order to use the current Use Year's Vacation Points, travel must be completed by November 30th. For example, you are currently in your December 2021 Use Year, so, unless your 2021 Points are banked, they will have to be used by November 30, 2022. So, if you would like to use your 2021 Vacation Points for a December 2022 arrival date, you will have to bank those Points into your 2022 Use Year.

You're in luck, Charles, because you still have time to bank your Vacation Points! For a December Use Year, your banking deadline is July 31st. So, just be sure that you bank your Points online or by calling DVC Member Services by July 31, 2022, to make sure your Points don't expire. Points equal magic, so, we don't want a single drop going to waste! Happy banking!

Charles, I noticed that you mentioned that you will be booking your December vacation in August. Just keep in mind that you can book a stay at your Home Resort 11 months before your arrival date, and you can book a stay at any other DVC Resort seven months in advance. That means that for a December arrival date, you can book as early as May! You can bank up to 100 percent of your Points and book your 2022 stay today! Happy booking!

I hope this was helpful, Charles, and I hope you book the magical vacation of your dreams! A dream is a wish your heart makes, so, may all your travel wishes come true with your magical Membership. Please stop by any time with any vacation planning or DVC questions you may have along the way. You've got a friend in me!

I hope to see ya real soon,
