Hi Deborah! We just moved within driving distance to WDW recently and I'm wondering, since you've been a local for a long time, what kinds of things do you do to keep the visits magical when you can just drive there & it's not a full blown vacation?

Hi there, Jackie! Thanks so much for writing, and welcome to the "neighborhood"!

Great question, and one I'm asked quite often. Walt Disney World and Parks and Resorts is so much more than "just" the theme parks. It's this amazing wonderland, where new discoveries and old favorites occupy the same physical/geographical space. So while there are times, certainly when my family wants to go over specifically for rides, or specifically for a meal at one of the many excellent restaurants (Chef Mickey's is always a winner!), there are also occasions when we decide to do experience, for us, "something there that wasn't there before."

And that can require research and advance planning. Sometimes, we can take the easy way out and just decide that our day will include a new ride/dish/interaction we haven't yet sampled; on other occasions, we will focus our collective attention on, say, learning about the history of an attraction,, or uncovering the celebrity appearances found in a particular park, or even just making time to chat with Cast Members around the World - who come from around the world!

Whether we're going for a day or for an extended vacation, our trips to Walt Disney World are fun getaways that allow us to reconnect as a family, enjoying one another and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Please let me know if I can help you plan some of your day trips! I'd love to introduce you to the fun of the One-Day Getaway!

    See You Real Soon,
    -Deborah B.
