Hi! We are debating between visiting WDW the 1st or 2nd weekend of Dec. I have heard the 1st weekend is usually when the Christmas parade is taped at MK. For this reason, should we go with the 2nd weekend? Or is there not a big impact to the park/world?

    Hi Ryan!

You are correct. Although not officially announced or advertised as an 'event' so to speak, the Walt Disney World annual Christmas Day parade is most often taped during the first weekend of December. It's usually taped in segments over a period of a few days, with the parade being one day and some of the 'live' music acts performed in front of Cinderella Castle on other, neighbouring days, and of course based somewhat on the weather.

I've been to Walt Disney World myself now twice during that exact time and found crowd levels for the week to still be quite low which is fantastic! We usually just avoid Magic Kingdom on the particular day of the parade taping. Even on the actual taping day, the busiest place is along Main Street U.S.A. with all the parade crowds lined up securing their spots!

Overall, I don't think you'll find there to be a big impact on Magic Kingdom or Walt Disney World as a whole that week. Both the first and second weeks of December are fantastic times to visit!

Wishing you a simply Magical time at Walt Disney World Ryan!
