We are debating the DP's. Quick DP or the Regular DP. Thoughts on which one is better? We are going for our 3 yo's 4th bday so I am worried about spending too much time at sit down restaurants when we could be out meeting characters and riding rides. HELP!

    Hello Melissa!

You are exactly right, sit down meals do take time away from rides and meeting characters.  But that is why my family likes it so much.  It's a time for us to wind down for a relatively short period of time and talk about how much fun we've had that day.  With the exception of a few character breakfasts, we usually use our sit down meal for dinner.  It is such a great time to regroup and after dinner we always feel so refreshed and ready to hit the parks again for the evening.  Plus, we really love the food at most of the sit down restaurants and can't imagine heading to Walt Disney World without eating at at least a few of our favorite spots.  For my family, eating at places like 'Ohana at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is just as much fun as riding rides.  Even my 7 year old looks forward to the dinners.  The only downside to this plan, in my opinion, is that you do have a schedule to stick to.  I highly recommend making reservations at each sit down restaurant you wish to eat at.  Reservations open up 180 days in advance and restaurants fill up rather quickly.

The Quick Service Dining Plan offers a lot of flexibility.  There are no reservations to manage and it is much more go with the flow.  When you are hungry, hop over into Casey's Corner on Main Street U.S.A. for a hot dog at your convenience.  It's also a great plan if you are visiting Walt Disney World for a short trip, like a weekend getaway.  Only then I'm not sure taking time out for sit down meals every day is worth it.  I think a 4 day trip or longer is the perfect vacation to take the plunge for the regular Disney Dining Plan.

If you think your then 4 year old would enjoy character meals, I would encourage you consider the regular plan. Meeting characters and having a great meal is really killing two birds with one stone! If you have any other questions, please come back and ask.

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
