We are debating between Art of Animation or Port Orleans Riverside. I'm wondering if staying at Port Orleans is any more convenient to get to other resorts- we'd like to eat at Chef Mickey's and watch fireworks at Polynesian. Any insight?

    Hi Emily!

Both of these resorts are great choices.  Disney's Art of Animation Resort is a Disney-movie paradise for children. It is probably the most fun resort on property in terms of "theme", in my opinion.  However, Port Orleans Riverside is a gorgeous resort that will make you feel as if you've been transported back to the "old south".  It is also located close to Downtown Disney and can get you there on a quick ferry ride.

As far as getting to a reservation at Chef Mickey's (in the Contemporary Resort) and to the Polynesian Village Resort for fireworks, both places would require a bus ride to the Magic Kingdom, followed by a monorail ride to the resorts.  I don't think either resort would be more beneficial than the other for those purposes.  I would choose the resort you like the best!  If I were planning the meal at Chef Mickey's and fireworks at the Polynesian, I would plan to do that on the day we visit Magic Kingdom.  That way, you're already there and can use the monorail for the evening's events.

Of course, another option for your reservations would be taking a cab.  You can arrange for a cab at the front desk of any resort.  It's not nearly as much fun as riding the monorail, but if time was tight, it would be a good choice.  Traveling on property in a cab is pretty inexpensive.

I hope this helps you decide!  Please let me know if you have any other questions.
