I will be debarking from the Disney Magic in Vancouver, BC June 11. Will I be ok with a 1:30 flight to the US?

    Ahoy, Barbara!

Welcome aboard planDisney! Planning ahead is especially important when international travel is involved, and you’re asking the right question now to make sure debarkation day feels calm and well-paced instead of rushed. Let’s take a look at how everything could line up.

Debarkation day is always the hardest part of the cruise for me. I’m usually wishing the ship would just make a quick turn and head back out to sea, but timing really does matter here. The good news is that a 1:30 PM flight should work very well for your plans. Disney’s recommendation for flights out of Vancouver is 12:30 PM or later, and your timing gives you a comfortable buffer without cutting things too close.

Once you’ve collected your luggage and cleared local customs, travel time from the port to the airport is typically around 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Guests who choose Express Walk-Off and carry all of their own luggage off the ship are often among the first to disembark, usually starting around 8:00 AM, though that timing can vary slightly. If you’re not doing Express Walk-Off, you’ll receive luggage tags featuring a Disney pal, and you’ll listen for announcements letting you know when it’s time for Guests with your character to head ashore. It’s a little like waiting for your boarding group to be called, just with a bit more Disney charm.

On the final morning, you’ll also be assigned a time and location for breakfast. It’s a great chance to say goodbye to your dining team and enjoy one last sit-down meal, but my crew and I often choose to head to Cabanas instead. That option gives us more flexibility and keeps the morning feeling relaxed rather than clock-watching. Just be sure to check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for final hours, as Cabanas typically closes around 8:30 AM on debarkation day.

I hope this helps as you put the finishing touches on your travel plans. With your flight time and a little planning, your final morning should feel smooth and not rushed. Before you know it, you’ll be heading home with a suitcase full of memories and maybe already thinking about the next sailing.

Sea ya real soon as the adventure continues into a bright new year,
    Dustin
