Ahoy, Barbara!
This might be my most favorite question I've ever been asked since being chosen to be a part of the Disney Parks Moms Panel, simply because of your thoughtfulness and kindness. While some guests will try and figure out how
not to pay gratuities (not many, but it happens!), you're concerned about the income of the hard-working cruise staff, and wondering if you should pay more than your share. I'm completely in awe of your thoughtfulness, and wish there were more people in the world like you!
On a Disney Cruise Line vacation, it's customary to reward the amazing cruise staff for the excellent service you'll receive throughout your vacation. Disney Cruise Line has a
list of suggested gratuities per person, per night of your sailing, but the amount you choose to tip is completely at your discretion. That being said, you shouldn't feel as though you need to "make up" for only having two guests in your cabin, as that is very common. You can, however, choose to reward exceptional service by tipping more than the suggested amount. We usually have several Cast Members that we feel have gone above and beyond to make our cruises magical, and have rewarded them accordingly!
Thank you again for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question - you truly made my day. As Cinderella once said, "Where there is kindness, there is goodness, and where there is goodness, there is magic." I feel certain you have a magical Disney Cruise Line vacation ahead of you. I hope it's as amazing as you are! - Diane W.
